As you already know, I am a strong believer in online videos to promote hotel properties in every details. With high Internet penetration and more importantly faster Internet connections through broadband and soon fiber optic, people use their computer screen like a TV set.
So it's about time that Barcelo Hotels, a Spanish hotel group with resort hotels start to show us videos about their hotel properties on YouTube.
Apparently, this is the first video they have produced and released on the video sharing site. The Barcelo Maya hotel in Mexico has already more than 800 views in 4 days. Not bad at all. How many viewers will convert into customers?
One issue is the fact that the hotel video is knowhere to be found on a the results page of the search "barcelo maya beach resort" on YouTube. So many "Unofficial" other videos appear before this one.
The Spanish hotel group plans to release one video per week.
My take on the video is that in one minute, you know a lot about the property. It is more personal than videos from some Tour Operators. I also think interviewing the staff works very well. The video looks more genuine.
What do you think?
Have a look at this interview with Claudio Zboznovitst, VP Sales & Marketing at Barcelo USA, Canada conducted by Travelpulse (a online magazine for US travel agents)

Personally, I think this is just some sort commercialization project aimed to promote the services and products they offer. Anyway its just a thought, thanks

Agreeable Post! Loading a video to show the facilities, services, ambiance is good way to create a real essence of words for your hotel's image. Also, regular updating the videos can hold any eye of customers. Good way to even hold the track!

Why don't they put these videos on the travel channels where people are looking to buy?
