I know a large number of people are still wondering what Twitter is for and why so much noise is behind it recently. Anyway, I let you judge for yourself whether Twitter is of good use for you.
While I was browsing the Web to find out who is on Twitter, I discovered that the Design Style Online Magazine for Paris hotels Hoosta has aso a Twitter account and so does the hotel chain Tiara Hotels (2 hotels in France and 2 hotels in Portugal). And what do they do on Twitter? Hoosta asks Tiara Hotels if they can provide some pictures of their new hotel opening soon in Cannes.
Could it be that Twitter become more efficient than emails for such a request?
Looks like it since Hoosta published a nice article about the hotel 3 days later (Note also the quality of pictures and how fast they are displayed on the site...)
So getting more and more proficient with Twitter, I have to say I tend to believe we have seen just the beginning of how people coud use efficiently this new social media tool.

Guillaume, I totally agree with you.
Running a hotel blog myself, I've been using Twitter to connect with hotels I want to feature, as well as to inform companies I've linked to them. It's faster and easier than digging out an email address, logging into my email, composing an email, etc.
I'm surprised however that so few hotels and especially brands are proactively and engagingly making use of Twitter. There's a great opportunity there to build a distinctive brand personality and I wonder why they're not addressing the challenge.
From what I've seen, independent hoteliers are "getting it" on Twitter better than big brands.

We agree that we are just at the beginning of how people use Twitter. It has been a great tool for our properties to connect with folks who share our interests and to provide timely advice to travellers who are coming to Nova Scotia. We also agree with Rajul that the the independent hoteliers are "getting it" on Twitter better than the big brands. As for the reason, we feel it is largely because Twitter is a relationship medium and smaller hotels have a more natural affinity to this means of communication.

Twitters can be used in multiple ways with different perspectives. People have started to use them as the common platform for information transfer but still many probable uses are waiting to be popular among the common people. The data and information collected through twitter is more reliable.

Hi Guillaume,
In fact, Twitter is becoming more and more a direct communication channel for us, at Tiara Hotels & Resorts.
Apart from this example, @splendiahotels are as well a pretty good example of how twitter should or can be used by hoteliers. Really interventive, participating and engaging.
Once again, a big thank you for refering Tiara Hotels & Resorts :)
Cheers,

If want to make your holidays special, then You’d be best staying in a hotel on Istanbul’s historic Sultanahmet Peninsula that have a great range, including cheap Istanbul hotels, mid-priced hotels and luxury hotels.
