HotelMarketing.com has revamped its website by enhancing / adding new functionalities.
HotelMarketing.com is 10 years old now and is a great source of information
where they aggregate different news sites with hotel or e-travel related
content. They claim to have over 35,000 subscribers.
First impression is that the
site has a look and feel of a blog like TechCrunch with the tabs on the top of the page and bigger characters for headlines.
See it for yourself…
So you have the big
categories highlighted (Home, Online Travel, Hospitality Industry, Internet
Marketing and Marketplace) on the first column then the "most popular" articles
on the second column (I still haven't understood how they measure the popularity though as not figures of readership is available on the article) and finally the third column is the space for advertisers
with the e-mail subscription functionality.
On the second column, a
couple of dossiers have been created:
- Travel 2.0
- Social Media
I
have also noticed that you can save some article on pdf format in your PC like
the excellent article about the “Positive World Tourism trend in 2007”.
RSS feeds are still available (at the bottom of the page though).
Overall a simpler interface to find the articles you want with a search functionality...
Besides these enhancements, there is no Social Media available meaning you can't leave comments on articles. And I think they should also let readers to give a note whether or not they found the article interesting, average or poor.

We train hundreds of lodging sales veterans and rookies alike each year. I always recommend they pick one lunch hour per week to close the door, put away their PDA and dive into HotelMarketing and http://www.hotel-blogs.com.

I've been a long time fan of HotelMarketing, one of those rare places where content and features really mesh to serve their market - and I'm not even in the hotel or hospitality business, except as a sometimes speaker on sensory cues to build on-site experiences. By the way, I found your great blog via Michael Chaffin & Sue Pelletier

yes Guillaume, I agree with you.
Hotelmarketing miss some Web 2.0 features as you say : comments, Digg like.
Also we don't see survey and other interaction with readers
